Thanks to Everyone Who Marched with Us!
On Sunday, June 14, 2015, GALAS made history by marching in the Los Angeles Gay Pride Parade for the first time. Having the Armenian and Rainbow flags marching down Santa Monica Boulevard together was a sight to see and an important milestone for GALAS and its members. We welcomed numerous old and new friends that day, all of whom handed out fans containing GALAS’ information to the onlookers. It was empowering and heartwarming to see so many people along the way cheering us on. A sincere thank you goes out to all those who joined us in the march that day. We had a great time, and now that we have taken this important literal and figurative step, we look forward to continuing this progress in the coming years and in future Gay Pride Parades!
GALAS Social: iWitness Installation
The GALAS board will be organizing a social outing to view the month-long art installation on the Armenian Genocide at The Music Center Plaza & Grand Park in Downtown L.A. For more details on the installation and location, please click here. We will send a reminder email with more information soon.
GALAS is very excited to announce that after many years of visibility at the Pride booths, this year we plan on joining the main Pride Parade to show just how far we have come in recent years in social activism and community pride. We began this fiscal year with a very public participation in the Armunity conference, focused on our goal of bridging the gap between the LGBT and Armenian communities, and we want to end the year with another exciting public appearance to demonstrate our Pride in both our LGBT and Armenian identity.
