The objective of the GALAS Psychotherapy Outreach Program (POP) is to support the personal and mental well being of GALAS members and non-members by providing individual as well as group therapy for issues such as: difficulties in relationships, depression, anxiety, stress, and coming out. The program is administered through the organization’s Educational and Resource Committee (ERC). Any members of GALAS, paid or not, may participate in the program.
Please read the following guidelines for individual therapy, as there are important details you need to know before calling the therapist.
- The POP is available to any person interested in psychotherapy.
- Those who have paid the annual GALAS membership fee will receive six (6) sessions with a licensed therapist at no cost to them. GALAS will pay the fee for each session, for up to six (6) sessions.
- Those who have not paid the annual GALAS membership fee will receive six (6) sessions with the licensed therapist with a co-pay of $35. GALAS will pay the balance of the fee for each of the six sessions.
- Those interested in scheduling an appointment will have to contact either one of the following therapists directly:

- The therapist will not be reporting on the status of any clients to any member of GALAS.
- Those who choose to continue sessions with the therapist beyond the six (6) sessions paid for, in part or wholly, by GALAS, are expected to pay for those sessions.
- At the initial session each client will be required to sign a release form.
In an effort to help the Armenian and GLBT communities, GALAS is making available two yearly $1,000 scholarships to eligible students.
- One $1,000 GALAS Scholarship is available to all college students (current or high school seniors) of Armenian descent and who are actively involved in an organization that benefits the GLBT community. Applicants must attend (or plan to attend) an accredited university or college in California. GALAS scholarship application packet is due on or before February 28th, 2010.
- One $1,000 scholarship is available through the partnership of GALAS and GALAA (Gay and Lesbian Allied Administrators). This scholarship is awarded to high school seniors, who are pursuing higher education and are actively involved in at least one organization benefitting the GLBT community. The application packet for this scholarship is due on April 30, 2010.
